A Few Things Friday

First thing:

Happy Valentine’s Day, e-lovers! You guys are all the like, the foam to my latte. Wait that sounds kind of gross… but whatever, you know what I mean. I like you. A lot.

So where was I? Oh right! A few things Friday. Let’s do it.

2. (I already did one, it was you guys remember? Geez, you forget so easily.) So obviously it snowed a lot and everyone is super stabby about it, myself included, but what’s really grinding my gears is that my wardrobe is suffering immensely. Forget about any shoes other than Uggs or snow boots. I nearly ruined a pair of suede booties the other day because I thought MAYBE it was safe to wear them, but no, road salt was not having it and they ended up looking a rather ashy shade of grey after 20 minutes. And let’s not even talk about the white lines I have on the back of every single pair of pants and tights I own. You’d think I’d be able to get out of the car unscathed at this point but apparently I never learn. Groan.

3. I alluded to my new favorite kitchen tool earlier this week, but I just want to take a moment to briefly geek out about it.

It’s the spiralizer. Which already sounds awesome and kind of bad ass, right? Basically it just takes your boring old veggies and turns them into fun little spirals of goodness. I’ve made all sorts of “pasta” with it, from sweet potatoes and zucchini to beets and eggplant. Even if I wasn’t paleo, I would still think was the Dean’s peanuts. I’m a huge over-eater when it comes to pasta (and really just carbs in general) so this has been an amazing way for me to cut back while I’m trying to re-health myself. Plus there’s a few great blogs out there with tons of recipes for this guy (this is my fave) and really, who doesn’t love a curly sweet potato fry?

3. I finally caught up with Shameless yesterday and um… WOWZA. That show. If any of you are watching it, you know what I’m talking about, and if you’re not, well you should. Just be warned it’s pretty intense. And I will never get over how talented William H. Macy is at playing a degenerate drunk.

4. So I FINALLY read “Gone Girl” (ok, I listened to it, but don’t hate, it helps pass the time while I’m traveling and I get car sick when I read) but anyways, I kind of didn’t like it. *hides behind something* Before you tell me I’m crazy, let me start by saying I figured the whole thing out almost immediately, and the ending? Meh. Not my favorite. I enjoyed the ride of the whole thing, but the ending is so important to me, and I just feel like it could have gone a different/better way. I just started reading (yes, READING) “The Fault in Our Stars” and I can already tell I’m going to love it.

5. You guys… I’m going to California! I know. You don’t even know how excited I am to blow this arctic tundra and get some sunshine on my vampire skin. I will miss Brandon and Mac and I wish they could come with me (it’s for work) but at this point all I can think about is weather over 50. And we’ll be traveling from top to bottom so I’ll get to see a lot of beautiful scenery and cities that I’ve always wanted to visit, but PAH-LEASE share if you’ve got any recommendations for me! We are already planning on the 17 mile drive and obviously I’m trying to make them stop at the Full House house (because duh) but otherwise I’m open to ideas.

Alright my little candy hearts, I hope you all have lovely Valentine’s Days!

valentines day

xoxo Jess

A Few Things Friday

1. So last week I was a day ahead each day (you know, Tuesday but I thought it was Wednesday, etc.) which frankly, my friends, is no way to live. It’s like thinking you’ve found a wadded up $20 in your pocket but it’s actually just a receipt for toilet paper. HOWEVER. This week I’ve been a day behind each day, so imagine my surprise when I realized last night was actually Thursday night, and therefore, completely acceptable for me to break my “no booze during the week” rule. Because in my world, technically Thursday is the beginning of the weekend. Just roll with it. (PS- if you want to find out my favorite wine, check out my video from this week.) #shamelessplug

2. I absolutely loved Jess‘ post from earlier this week about all the lovely Archer Farms products, and promptly found myself in Target a few hours later. (I’m such an easy mark.) Not only did I find a new sweater on the clearance rack that I’ve already donned this week and received multiple compliments on, but I found this as well:

archer farms coffee

Uhhhhhhhh yeah.

3. Speaking of awesome posts, I have been following this girl’s blog for a super long time now, and if you don’t, well, you are missing out. In fact, I actually emailed her right before I started my blog just to tell her how much I loved hers (stalker much?) and she sent me some of the kindest and most honest advice a girl could ask for. Anyways, she posted about some really honest stuff this week, and it really hit home for me (as in like, pretty much identical timeline of anxiety/depression issues). If you have a moment, check it out, and while you’re there, find like 4,000,000 outfits you want to own.

4. I’m almost halfway through The Great Gatsby and so addicted. I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to delve into this little gem of a novel, but it’s got me thinking. What other great novels from the past have I overlooked? Embarrassingly enough, I don’t think I’ve ever read Withering Heights or Pride and Prejudice, and I think those are my next two to check off the list. Why those two? What’s the significance? I don’t know.

5. Can we talk for a second about Nashville this week? I don’t even know what to say. I mean… ugh. Tears. So many emotions. DEACON.

6. How dorky am I that I am so excited for the new Star Trek*? I mean, Chris Pines, duh, but seriously. Kind of can’t wait to see it. Also Spock, aka Zachary Quinto aka love him. Which reminds me… we really need to catch up on American Horror Story… I digress.

7. I will leave you with this picture of the newest member of my brother and sister-in-law’s family:

Can. You. Even.

Happy weekend, my lovas.

xxoo J

*originally said Star Wars… Classic Jess.

A Few Things Friday

Hey guys, sorry I’m all MIA and whatnot lately (I’m sure it’s really making your days hard to get through), but as usual, work has been crazytown lately and I’ve managed to neglect my sweet little blog again.  I got to fly in one of our client’s private jets again yesterday though (which was super fun but also super terrifying- hello turbulence) but it was to North Carolina and back and then a 2 hour drive home, all in one day.  Let’s just say I’m not operating on all four cylinders today.  (Oh, I know, waaahh poor me.  Let me feel cool for a second, ok??)

So without further ado:

1.  I woke up this morning to find the left side of my closet had literally collapsed.  Not like.. the walls, but the entire bar that holds 70% of my hanging clothing and about 50% of my shoes.  Imagine my surprise. Like getting ready in the morning doesn’t already take me long enough, today I had to sift through wrinkled piles of dresses and random heels to figure out what didn’t have plaster on it.  I don’t know if this means I need to upgrade my closet or downgrade my wardrobe.  Brandon has a very clear answer on that one though, that I can be sure of.

2.  So if you’re obsessed with Nashville like I am, then you probably know that all the characters like actually sing the songs and stuff.  I’m sure with a little bit of help, but hey, who doesn’t get that these days.  ANYWHO, I just discovered that those adorable little sisters I was going on about last week… get this… are ACTUALLY sisters!  And they have a YouTube channel and they actually sing and are kind of completely amazing.

Nashville Lennon and Maisy

And yes I did spend like 4 hours the other night watching and re-watching all of their videos.  This one especially.  Dying.

3.  Speaking of TV shows, I can’t tell you how saddened I am to find out that the whole “new season of Friends” rumor was a complete bust.  I’m sure it would have extremely sad to see them all nipped and tucked and botox’ed out of their minds, but I love that crazy gang and it would have been pretty awesome to see them together again.  I guess the reruns at 11pm on Nickelodeon every night will have to do for now.  Sup with the wack PlayStation sup.

Ok that’s all I got, kids. Momma’s tired and can’t think of anything else to say.  Also I’m now calling myself “momma” so that’s pretty good proof.  And now I feel like Jesse Spano. In more ways than one.

Jesse Spano

Happy weekend! xo
