As a predicted in my last video, July was a month of crazy. Not like bad, someone give me a Xanax and hold me crazy, it’s been a good crazy. (Although I’m no stranger to the aforementioned crazy and much prefer this kind.) Anywho.
So I just thought I’d check in with you guys so you didn’t think I’ve run away to join the convent, or at least join an off-Broadway cast of the Sound of Music and pretend to be in a convent. Although that would be kind of amazing… dream jobs aside, I’ve had a whirlwind of a summer and it’s not slowing down anytime soon, hence my extreme absence from blogging. I’ve got a few weddings on the horizon, as well as a family beach trip and some other weekend events that have me booked until October. (Not exaggerating.) And while I long for the days of hours spent on my couch with a completely clear schedule, it’s all been a lot of fun and I feel blessed to be able to spend so much time with family and friends. So in a very quick breakdown, i present:
Where I’ve been.
We started off with our first-ever trip to Rehoboth with B’s family, and had such a great time. Nothing like some sunshine, fresh seafood, and ice cold beer to put me in my happy place.
We then took a long weekend visit to my family cabin where most days are spent in the creek. (Or “crick”, depending on where you’re from.) Brandon and I actually went for a quick night swim since it was, oh, a thousand degrees when we got there, and somehow made it back alive. I fully admit that this wouldn’t have happened without some liquid courage and the fact it was too hot to think about snakes and spiders. But it was lovely and cooled us down for all of 10 minutes.
Oh and there was a bear. Again, miracle I’m alive.
Then I went on a 48 hour road trip to North Carolina for work, where I only had time to eat one freakingamazinglydelicious meal, which is obviously my priority. Thankfully my search for fantastic southern food led me to the adorable Lucky 32. If you ever find yourself in Greensboro, I cannot recommend it enough, and if you order anything, get the grit cake. It will change your life.
Last weekend I was so lucky to have Kacy and her fiance, Tom, come and stay with us. I love this girl and it makes my heart swell when we actually get to spend time with each other. Especially when that time is spent on a boat with that sweet little brown pup by my side. (Side note: Mac and the water are still getting to know one another. It was a whole thing.) So while it was a quick trip, I can’t wait for her wedding later this month!
Our weekend was capped off by one of the best brunches I’ve ever had, at a local PA restaurant Home 231, which included a bloody mary made with pepper-infused vodka. Wowza. I’ve heard stories of their delightful brunch menu, and I’m happy to report they are all true. Brandon’s breakfast totally kicked my breakfast’s ass, he ordered the hanger steak and eggs that came with a hashbrown cake the size of a hockey puck. Ain’t nothin wrong with that.
So overall, July was a pretty sweet little month, and August is going to give it a run for it’s money. In the meantime, thanks for checking in and hopefully I’ll have more time to write and read more blog posts as things calm down. Til then, enjoy the rest of your summer and if you want to be a creeper like me, you can follow me on instagram, facebook or twitter where I will more-regularly document my whereabouts.
Stay classy, internet frands <3
