TGIMF’ingF.
Is that a tshirt yet? Because it should be. This week has been crazy busy for me, which I’m not complaining, I love being busy, but I am pretty much dead today. There’s a bottle of wine chilling in my fridge right now with my name on it. Which I realize is pretty much always an accurate statement, but I swear wine tastes better on a Friday night.
Alright, let’s do this.
1. I have been a faithful CoverGirl Lash Blast mascara user for about 5 years now, but I think I’ve officially broken up with it and moved on.
I’ve met a new mascara and her name is Maybelline Volum’ Express, The Falsies. I don’t have very thick or very long lashes, so I need a mascara that knows how to do work. This little puppy has given me not only the longest lashes I’ve ever had on my mug, but they are plump and don’t get all clumpy and gross. My only complaint is that it doesn’t wash off very easily, but a few extra scrubs with some soapy water or a little lotion, and I’m good as new.
2. You guys know by now that I’m all about embracing new trends and experimenting with fashion…to a degree. You won’t catch me rocking anything too crazy like the likes of Nikki Minaj, who scares the BEJESUS out of me, but I’m open to try almost anything. But for some reason, I am still having a really hard time embracing the chambray look. I’ve tried it a few different ways, but no matter what, I always feel like I should be parking my horse somewhere and officially change my name to “Hoss”. I recently bought this little number from the Gap, on clearance, final sale no no-returnsies, and I’m just not sure about it.
So I don’t know, you guys, is this cute or do I look like I’m going to a Rascal Flatts concert? Is Rascal Flatts even cool anymore? I hate country if we’re being honest… Well except for Miranda Lambert, but that’s because I think she’s just bad ass. Do you think she carries a gun on her all the time? That’s so cool. I bet she drinks PBR and straight whiskey and swears almost as much as I do… Anyways, if you’re ready to cham-brayke up with me after this, I understand.
See what I did there?
3. I’m thinking about doing a social experiment for the entire month of October, which I will tell you more about next week. It’s something I’ve been toying with for a while, and it’s along the lines of cutting out the BS in your life. I don’t know if I’ll actually have the cojones to pull it off, but I think if I do, it will be pretty revealing on a lot of levels. Anyways, stay tuned for more on that.
Ok my lovelies, I’m out, but have a fabulous weekend and I’ll catch you on the flip side…

I’m all about cutting out the BS in my life, but have no effing clue what “chambray” is. Perhaps I’ve already cut that BS out…?

#1 I actually love The Falsies. My fave drugstore brand. I just splurged on some Urban Decay Supercurl (or something, I don’t remember) because I read it on a blog, and so far, so good.
#2 I totally feel you on chambray. Looks great on models (why are their chambray shirts softer and more distressed looking – maybe that’s the issue?), but I bought a button down from Tar-Jay last year and I have yet to actually wear it out of the house. I mostly have tried the whole “wear all denim” but I, too, feel like I’m going to hoedown. Or just that I am back in the 80s.
#3 I can’t wait to find out what this is!
Have a great weekend!!

Hi friend! I rock chambray like it’s my job, I seriously have more denim/chambray shirts then I would like to admit. I think it looks awesome on you!!
Also I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been known to wear a canadian tuxedo on more than one occassion (denim on denim). Then again I live in Brooklyn now so you can pretty much pull anything off…Anyhoot, just rock it, it looks great!

I will be drinking some wine tonight as well and…it.will.be.glorious!
And I love it when drugstore brand products work as well, if not better, than expensive brands. I love Maybelline mascaras.
And I hope you post about your experiment – I’m curious now!

I’ll need to try that mascara. I have no eyelashes, and small eyes. I need all the help I can get.
Also, I think we’ve established this many times over, but I’m obviously super uncool because I have no idea what chambray even is. I do like that shirt though if that means anything – but to be fair, I’ll always be a bit of a hick at heart.

How I do chambray: with black leggings and boots, belted with a longish cardigan, or with white shorts tucked in. I think it looks good with the red though!

I have such a girl crush on Miranda. I tuned in to Say Yes to the Dress a few weeks ago SOLELY because she was going to be on it. I saw her in concert this summer and just completely fell in love…in a non-creepy way, of course. She makes me want to say things like “ain’t” and “hankerin”.
PS, I’m totally going to start calling you Hoss.
Have a good weekend, Hoss.

it’s a long story as to why, but 2 of my best friends already do, so “hoss” away

I have two chambray long-sleeved shirts. Wore one yesterday, actually. I love the idea of it, but it never exactly works out the way I want to. They’re my go-to for rock concerts though. Ironic, perhaps?
And now I need to go buy that mascara and try to figure out what your social experiment its!

I can’t find a chambray shirt that looks right on me either, but I think that shirt looks cute on you! As long as you don’t wear it with some cowboy boots, I feel like you can stay away from country-singer-territory!

I am with you on the chambray shirt thing…it seems to look ok on other people but looks horrid on me…and actually being from redneck country, I feel like it’s only one step away from plaid or camo and i just can’t do it myself.

I’m always on the lookout for good mascara. My lashes are sadly short.
Happy weekend, my love! 3 weeks!!!

I’ve just stumbled upon your blog, and it’s really cute. I think you are pulling off the chambray shirt really well. I always see girls pull it off effortlessly and I think I can’t do it! Alas, maybe there is home. Also, I love the same mascara brand. So loyal.
And also also, I read your about page, and your dog Mac is really effing cute. I can’t wait to read more of your posts and see some more photos!

Thanks so much, Jorie
I think he’s pretty effing cute too, but I’m biased.

All I have to say is this post just cracked me up..I am such a sucker for a good pun. Shooot, I was all mixed up with chevron and chambray so that tells you my knowledge on the topic…
also I was admiring some girl’s eyelashes on the train today (creepin) thinking how I need to get a dif mascara because her looked so long and spidery in the best way possible. Falsies it is!
Happy weekend!

I don’t get Nicky Minaj. So confused by her on a number of different levels. It’s nice to know that it’s not just my age group that finds her just…out there.
Love the top! It’s not country at all. And I don’t like country either so I’d tell you the truth.

So I just realized your feed isn’t going into my reader. WTF? Changed that right away. Miss you girl!
