A Few Things Friday

Hey kids, happy Friday! Surprisingly I managed to post 3 times this week, so either I’ve been drinking entirely too much coffee, or I’m just feeling a little more inspired to write down my random thoughts.  Either way, I think we can safely say it’s a win for everyone.  I kid, I kid.

So as per ushe’, let’s get things going with AFTF.

1.  FIRST OF ALL… It’s my biff’s birthday!!  And if you know us, you know that for some reason after a few cocktails, we tend to start every sentence with a slurry “FIRST OF ALL…” like we’re about to reveal something earth-shattering, but instead tackle some other ridiculous issue like a reality tv character that we can’t stand or how much we love Tim Gunn.  But I digress.  So happiest of birthdays to my true lady love and partner in crime.  I love you and I’m truly thankful everyday that we are best frans <3

2.  As I mentioned via my daily journal, aka instagram, I am increasingly obsessed with polkadots lately.  I mean ob.sessed.  I see- I want.  I think people are starting to wonder if I’ve joined some sort of whimsical cult.  My latest piece to the collection comes in the form of the most ahhhhdorable dress from Zara, and I got it on sale (holler) so that makes it ok.  But now I promise not to buy anything else polka-dotted for at LEAST a month.  Or  a week…. no.  A month.

Or maybe I should get some polka dot shoes?  Ugh.  Halp.

3.  This is more of a somber note… but it’s been almost a year since we lost our little puppster Hendrix to bone cancer.  I’ve been thinking about him a lot lately and have had a few teary nights, just reminiscing about what a great dog he was and how sad it is that we only got to spend such a short time with him.  Mac came along just when we needed him and helped us heal better than anything else in the world could have.  I honestly cannot imagine my life without a dog in it, and that’s why I think we should get another one.  I KNOW.  Two dogs is a lot.  Twice the food… twice the vet bills… twice the fur… but it’s also twice the cuteness and twice the unfaltering love and puppy kisses.  So we’ll see if it actually happens, but I think Mr. Mac needs a friend and hopefully I can convince the husband to see things my way.  But don’t worry, I’m really good at that.

I need a friend, Mom…

Anyone else have two dogs?  Thoughts?  Too much to handle or easier than I think?

Enjoy your weekends, loves! xo

  1. only have one crazy rescue dog, but that pic of mac made me laugh bc he sits with his paw bent like that all day long and it cracks us up.

  2. I live in an apartment and have no dogs. But, I have friends with two dogs and they say it’s not really 2x the work….more like 1.5x the work. I enthusiastically vote “yes!” especially if you rescue :)

  3. I love polka dots. I feel so feminine and… pretty.

Yeah. I said it. I’m such a girly girl.

  4. 2 dogs for allllll the people. i have two and they love each other.

  5. I am SUCH a polka dot freak, but I’ve been totally slacking on my Isntagrammin’.

  6. I have two dogs & love them both dearly (even if they’re twice as expensive). However, we got the second dog because we thought our original dog needed a friend. He was always alone while we were at work & thought a partner in crime would be good for him. We got a female because we know he likes to be the dominant male, but we still have some dominance issues … Ugh! He will. not. let us give the female dog attention! If we do, he comes over & rubs his butt in her face & then pushes his way in, it drives me nutts! Plus, apparently, she also likes to be dominant & if he sleeps in her bed, she pees in it! I keep having to replace them because that’s gross.

They do play together though & that’s when I’m glad they have each other … :^) I realized though, that our original dog was perfectly happy being the lone dog of the house & I think we stressed him out a bit when we got him a “friend.” It took about a year for him to adjust a bit & after 2 years, he is still adjusting.

    • I am worried Mac might get super jealous bc he loves me so much, but we’ve had friends bring their dogs over and he always gets along great with them. He actually seems MORE comfortable with other dogs around!

      • That’s a good sign if he’s comfortable around other dogs. Mine never was completely. He only liked my sister’s dog & a handful of others, but even then he made sure to display his “dominance,” especially if I was paying attention to the dog.

  7. Oh & I absolutely LOVE polka dots! Super girlie & cute!

  8. I talked my husband into rescuing a second dog a month after we rescued the first, and it was the best thing we ever did. We’ll probably always have 2 dogs now, seeing how ours play and love each other. It’s twice as expensive, yes, but it’s more than worth it!

  9. I’m on a polka dot kick too. Except lately they’re pretty much just on my underwear. I don’t think I have a lot of polka dot clothing. It’s a shame too, because not that many people see my underwear.
I support getting another dog. It IS more work yes, but really not THAT much more work. My logic on this is valid, and here’s why.
All the extra work you have to do when you have one dog is the same as what you would have to do with two dogs. You walk them together, you take them out to pee together, you feed them together. It’s all the same stuff so really, the only difference is the money part. And who needs money? :)

  10. JCrew Fall is full of polka dots!
2 dogs–love it. It’s not twice the work–it’s twice the love and fun. I love when the interact and pester each other.

  11. We had two dogs growing up and I think it worked well. My friend is fostering a 10 month old dobie if you’re interested! He’s got FLOPPY EARS! And is already housebroken and crate trained. Just a thought. :)

I also have an immense love for Tim Gunn. And Andy Cohen. And Michael Kors. I think spending a day with the three of them would be A-MAZING.

    Have a good weekend lovely!

  12. Three posts here this week too! Look at us being legit!

So sad about Hendrix :( But you were both lucky to have the time together that you did. He had such loving parents when he needed them most. You should totally get another one!
    I want two dogs toooo!

  13. I’m pretty sure everything with polka dots is automatically 30% cuter. Like right off the bat.

Aw I’m sorry about Hendrix :( But I freaking love that he was named Hendrix!

  14. Ahhh we finally find a difference between us…. I am not a dog person. I just have a fearful respect of them….

  15. So sorry you’ve been a bit sad with the anniversary of Hendrix…Believe me, I know how horrible it feels! And I am totally with you on the two dogs. When I’m ready to get another dog, I’m definitely getting two!

  16. *LOVE* the polka dots. You can never have too many. :)

So sorry you\’ve been a bit sad with the anniversary of Hendrix…Believe me, I know how horrible it feels! And I am totally with you on the two dogs. When I\’m ready to get another dog, I\’m definitely getting two!

  17. Sorry to hear you have been feeling sad about Hendrix, it really is the worst kind of sadness but just try to be glad that you got to love him and have him in your life, even if it was for a way too short of a time! :) Also I have two dogs and honestly it’s not really anymore work than having one! Anything you have to do for one it’s just as easy to do for two… feeding, walking, cleaning up after etc. Plus they provide entertainment and companionship for each other! Yayy for two dogs!!! :)

  18. i always think about getting a friend for lucy but then the whole twice the billz/work/food/etc gets me everytime — but gosh it’d be so fun to have 2 pups running all around!!!! i say if you think you’re ready then you just might be, so go for it ;)

  19. I’m enjoying the polka dot trend as well. Though, I’ve always been more of a stripes girl. :) Sorry you’re missing Hendrix, but I’m glad you have Mac to keep you company!
