Outlet

Soooo…. about this weekend…

I know, I know.  I said I was going to chill out with the shopping, because let’s face it- I’m in no way shape or form rolling in dough.  I did consign a crapload (technical term) of stuff about 2 months ago, so I can sort of justify these purchases.   But in addition to that, I’ve also mentioned before about my whole style evolution and needing to freshen up the duds.  Yes, you’re right, enough with the excuses.

So me and the biff hit the Hershey Outlets this weekend and did just a wee bit of damage.  Mostly in the form of shoes.

Why yes, those shoes are on my breakfast bar, but I skyped with my SIL yesterday and obvi had to show them all to her.  PLUS… before you tell my I have a problem, I will have you know that I got 4 pairs (one pair unpictured) for…wait for it…

$56!

Eeeeexactly.

I also did work at LOFT, stocked up on my favorite bras from Calvin Klein, and escaped J. Crew with just one single shirt under $20 and called it a day.  If you ask me, that’s a pretty fantastically executed little trip to the Outlets.

I also wanted to share that I had my first encounter with “tan towels” (via my birchbox) this weekend.

Well… tan towel, singular, and um… I think you’re supposed to use more than one*.  I felt like it kind of ran out of juice once I got up to my arms, and there was way more solution applied to my legs.  So as I suspected, my legs do have some pretty decent color, but there are definitely some awkwardly placed spots that I missed.   My arms didn’t darken too much, but I can still see a difference.  I will definitely give them a second chance and make sure I try and get more of an even coverage next time, but they actually smelled really nice and the color is much less-orange than other self-tanners I’ve tried and I didn’t end up with unevenness on my elbows, knees, etc.  Although my husband did make a “Snookie” joke last night when I was applying, but he thinks he’s cute and we’ll just go ahead and ignore that.

*Update: Ok you are supposed to use 2.  Oops.  Used the second one to fill in spots I  missed and apply another coat to my upper body and now it’s WAY better.  I would totally use these again!

Ever tried tan towels before?  Thoughts?

  1. I kind of like the tan towels. The only problem is how easy it is to miss a spot or two (as you so learned), but better than cancer! And good job on the spree! I never have any luck at the outlets.

  2. So I totally saw that pic yesterday and said to myself “she probably got all that for less than $100″. Clearly I was close to right. ;) Nice work on the shoes!

  3. This is a great time of year for outlet shopping! I went on Friday and totally stocked up at JCrew! And the black pumps I was looking for from about September ’11-April ’12…yeah, I found them in July.

  4. Cute new shoes! Yeah, I’m supposed to be on a budget right now, but I couldn’t help but buy a new pencil skirt at LOFT this weekend. It happens.

  5. I am OBSESSED with tan towels haha. The end. I use the Tan Towel half body classic and apply right before bed, waking up with the most fab not-fakey tan ever. They are seriously the best!! ps i need to stop w the shopping tooooo, its gettin outta control over here lol

  6. Wow, what a great deal you got at Nine West! When the prices are that low you are totally permitted to load up. I live really close to the Orlando outlets and they’re dangerous…especially the Lululemon!

  7. I love outlet shopping! I wish there was a good one near me. I went to Marshalls over the weekend though and got two great maxi skirts.

  8. Dude, 4 shoes for $56? I’m so very jealous. Diggin the nude ones!

  9. Ummm . . . you HAD to buy those shoes. It would be irresponsible to walk past that kind of deal.

  10. Did the towel stain your palms/fingers at all? That’s what I always get scared of with that sort of thing…though I have been loving my Jergen’s Natural Glow lotion this summer. :) I’ve been to the Hershey Outlets- they’re awesome!

  11. I love a good outlet shopping spree. $56 for four pairs of shoes?! I think you deserve a medal or something. That’s nothing short of amazing. As for the self-tanner, I love it but I’m so bad at applying it. I’m always full of streaks.

  12. Those tan towels are intriguing! Also, so glad I am not the only shopping addict around here. So guilty. Nice job on the bargains!

  13. Ohh I need to try those tan towels. I’ve been using the L’Oreal Sublime Bronzer. The spray stuff doesn’t seem to give me much color, but the lotion stuff works really well. It has a little too much “instant” bronzer for my taste, but I just put it on in the evening and then rinse in the morning!

  14. I’ve been meaning to consign stuff but don’t really understand how to do it….help?

  15. yay! I’m glad you would totally use those tan towels again..can you actually get your entire body in 1 towel? and then run it through again with a 2nd one? i love those shoes you bought..i need to do some damage at my outlets!!

  16. That is such an amazing deal on shoes! :) I really want to try tan towels. I am so pale right now, it’s not even funny.

  17. I wish I would have gotten the tan towels!
I am jealous of your shopping. I really suck at getting things at good prices. Yet another thing I need you for.

  18. LOVE the Nine West outlet! I know you’re a bit outside of Pittsburgh, but I hope you’ll consider coming to a Pittsburgh blogger meetup on August 11th! http://wiggio.com/group_open_join.php?groupid=1333020&password=foodies&ref=1282222
