Here we are again, at the cusp of the weekend and it’s even better since we were off just a few short days ago. Although I still keep forgetting what day it is, and I tried to watch True Blood like 4700 times Wednesday night because I was sure it was Sunday. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.
So this week I thought I’d share a few new things I’ve acquired that are making my life a little happier place. Ready? Go. (Yes, I was a cheerleader for like 3 years. I know, it blows my mind too.)
1. BB Cream. Have you heard about this stuff?? Me neither until a week ago when I had my Ulta splurge. (I had a 20% off coupon, what was I supposed to do, NOT buy all the things?) Apparently it’s all the rage and I understand why. It goes on like a tinted moisturizer- super light, not at all greasy and an amazing amount of coverage for how airy it is! I’m not kidding when I tell you I am obsessed with it. I wear it both alone and with a little bare minerals powder over top for extra coverage, but either way, it’s hands-down my new favorite beauty product. I went with Smashbox Camera Ready, but there are tons of variations out there if you’d rather go with a lower-cost choice. (My skin is really sensitive so unfortunately it’s one of the places I usually can’t skimp.)
2. New Beer. Brandon and I had a little date night last week and decided to go the ultimate romantic route and opted for wings and beer. What can I say, we’re simple folk. Anyways, the place we went has like 30 craft beers on tap and we wanted to sample a few. I don’t know when it happened but I became a beer-girl again. I used to down Miller Lites like they were paying me for it, but then I turned to wine and didn’t think I’d ever look back. However, I have, and much more in the way of delicious IPA’s and hefeweizens. So much to my delight, they had the elusive Dogfish Head 120 min IPA on tap, so we started with that. Only…
Apparently they can only serve 5oz drafts at a time, since it’s like, 18% alcohol. Lame, but hey, at least the glass was cute. We also had a Pizza Boy Turkey Burglar (not my fave) and a Terrapin Phlux Capacitor (deeelish). It was a pretty sweet little date night.
3. The New Gym. So I made my triumphant return to the world of exercise last night, and let me tell you, it’s been a while. I attended a little class called Body Attack, and holy balls, I can hardly walk today. I loved it though, as it sufficiently kicked my arse and I’m very much looking forward to more sweaty sessions. As much as I loathe working out sometimes, I really do feel a gajillions times better when i do it, so do it I shall. (Remind me of this around 4pm today when it hurts so bad I can’t even sit down to pee, k?)
So that’s it, 3 things that I’m a fan of this week. Enjoy your weekend, loves.

Any new products/things/whatevers you want to share?

Well, you know how I’m a fashion diva and beer connoisseur (sarcasm, of course,) but I won’t divulge my secrets and new finds on that front here (more sarcasm.) However, I did buy a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser handheld thing that is basically changing my life. I might post about it, but for now, every pet owner needs one yesterday. Love.
Other than that, it’s been too hot to breathe. That’s all I got. Happy Weekend!

I have to check that out. Mac doesn’t shed as bad as Hendrix did, but he’s certainly leaving a fair amount of his fur coat round these parts.

HAHAHAH those mini glasses are hilarious. I love the mini Jameson glasses I got at a promo event for the world cup – they hold all of three sips, but still super cute!

I’ve tried a few BB creams (from samples) and I bought Clinique thanks to its SPF 30… will be perfect for the beach but wasn’t TOO expensive.

Unfortunately I just discovered {at Ulta = that place is EVIL} Paul Mitchell’s Tea Tree Special shampoo & conditioner. I bought a trial pack rather than the full sized version, in case I hated it. Much to my dismay, I don’t hate it. I freakin’ LOVE it. Sooo refreshing. But I just can’t bring myself to pay the $42 for the shampoo + conditioner liters (the smaller bottles are WAY too small). Now I must try to erase my memory and go back to crappy shampoo.

I love minty shampoo, it makes you feel like there’s a million little hands massaging your head
July 6, 2012 at 10:18 am
I need to go to Ulta. I always forget about it…

Aww you look so sad! I’m still obsessed with my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, it’s da bomb. Congrats on your return to the gym, I’ve only gone once this week. Must remedy that today.
July 8, 2012 at 2:44 pm
You’re the second person to mention a Laura Mercier product to me. I may have to investigate…

I just bought a BB cream too. I went with the Boscia brand, and I like it, but not as much as the Jart+ kind that came in my first Birch Box. I was thisclose to buying the Smashbox kind, but can’t remember now why I didn’t. May have to try that next!
Oh, and I heart beer. The 120 minute is really tasty with spicy foods!
July 8, 2012 at 2:44 pm
It was awesome with wings! But then, what isnt…
July 6, 2012 at 11:31 am
I’m one of simple tastes, too. I don’t think guys realize that my ultimate first date would include pizza and beer… I’m not one for romance.
July 8, 2012 at 2:44 pm
I think we should date.
July 6, 2012 at 11:48 am
Yep, the 120 is no joke! I split a regular 12-oz bottle three ways with some friends and I felt a little buzz from it.
I haven’t had that Terrapin beer…interesting! I’ll be keeping an eye out!
July 6, 2012 at 11:52 am
I really liked it- was a little hesitant bc it was so dark and I’m not a huge fan of strong ale’s, but it was delicious! Also… it’s called the Phlux Capacitor, soooo.

What gym did you join? If you’re at Gold’s in Camp Hill, you gotta come to Body Flow with me and Lauren P. I go every weekend I can.
July 6, 2012 at 12:42 pm
Ha! <3 the 120, and I agree with Shelbs, it is best as a 3 way…but then, what isn't?
July 8, 2012 at 2:45 pm
That should be a tshirt.

Forgot to mention this earlier, but my girl Tierney just did a post on good summer beers to try – I can’t wait to get my hands on that Positive Contact: http://www.sarabozich.com/2012/07/summer-beers.html

Oohhh . . . I want to try that cream. My skin is such a pain in the ass. I basically had to give up sugar entirely because every time I have ANY I break out like a teenage boy. Finding products that don’t irritate my skin is so difficult.
July 8, 2012 at 2:46 pm
me too, girl. Bare minerals is the best makeup for my skin, but I’m always trying to face washes and stuff but still have yet to find something I really love.
July 6, 2012 at 10:38 pm
I bought the Garnier BB Cream, (because it was the cheapest BB cream I could find, haha) and I like it, but I haven’t figured out if it’s totally necessary, because then I still feel the need to put make up on. I also tried the Benefit Pore Perfecter cream (YAY free samples!) and I love it. I might have to buy some. I swear it made my skin SO smooth. And my skin is not smooth…
July 8, 2012 at 2:47 pm
I LOVE that pore perfecter! And I like the Smashbox BB cream bc it’s enough coverage if i’m just running errands/etc but if I need a little more I add some powder on top to cover any blemishes or spots.
July 9, 2012 at 7:43 am
I find that the American BB creams are a trifle inferior to the Asian versions, they remind me more of a tinted moisturizer than a miracle cover up. My favorite is the Korean brand Skin Food, though it’s a bit thicker than the creams here.
July 9, 2012 at 8:26 am
That is total BS they gave it to you in a 5oz serving. DFH serves it in a snifter at their brewpub, and I’ve bought a bottle of it at other bars. You were robbed!
It is delish though, is it not?
