Sometimes I feel bad for ground turkey. It’s one of those items that gets tossed into the abyss of my grocery cart, week after week, knowing that no matter what great hopes I have at the time, it will inevitably turn into some sort of Mexican taco-esque meal, or get rolled around with breadcrumbs and an egg.
Thank God for blogs. Specifically this one. Not only does Andie speak to my heart with her love for Leo DiCaprio and unabashed admission of being a mommy’s girl, but she speaks to my stomach over and over again with drool-inducing food. I knew as soon as I saw this little gem that it had to grace my dinner plate. Because let’s be honest here… there’s nothing like a BBQ tuxedo to spruce up the everyday meatloaf.
BBQ Meatloaf
(Adapted from Can You Stay For Dinner?)
Serves: 4
Cook time: about 45 minutes
You’ll Need:
1lb lean ground turkey
1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup BBQ sauce (I used Sweet Baby Rays)
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
1 T Dijon mustard
2 T Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. minced garlic
1 tsp. onion powder
1 T tomato paste
Directions: Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce. Shape into a loaf and place onto a baking sheet, brushing on remaining 1/4 cup of sauce until loaf is covered. Bake for 45 minutes, and then transfer to a cutting board and allow to sit for about 15 minutes before slicing.
So what exactly does a turkey meatloaf in a BBQ tuxedo say to me? Just that it’s formal, but it also likes to party.
Also, you should know that I cannot go a single day without quoting a Will Ferrell movie. Fact.

Andie is just lovely. One of the sweetest people I’ve ever met!
And speaking of Will Ferrell movies, I made fun of my brother’s laziness and his enjoyment of shouting across the house to get my mom’s attention by following up his request with a “MOM! THE MEATLOAF!”
Seems to work well here, too… lol

Yum, I’ll have some of that. Zach thinks meatloaf is disgusting so unfortunately it isn’t likely we’ll be having this soon.

Ok, so what would you call meatloaf wrapped in bacon? Formal, dressed up, but with a death wish? Oh, Andie. Her food is always phenomenal- bacon suit or not.

I love Talladega Nights. That movie is what started my attraction to Will Ferrell. I find him super attractive, especially in the racing suit.
Oh, and the meatloaf, it sounds awesome.

I immediately thought of Wedding Crashers as well when I saw your title.
I haven’t had meatloaf in ages. I think that needs to change.
