Last night started off like it was gonna be a pretty nice evening.
I had a sweet little run; I banged out a freakishly quick 3 miles at the park and wasn’t planning on doing more than 2. The force was with me so I just kept running. It was glorious and a very rare occasion.
After my triumphant run, I came home, starved and ready to relax, and started routing through my fridge/freezer. After coming across some frozen whole wheat pizza dough, I made the call to try a new recipe I’d been formulating. All was going swimmingly until I checked on it midway, and it just wasn’t doing what it was supposed to do. As I feared, I pulled it out of the oven only to reveal….well quite literally a hot mess. And as much as I hate to waste food…
Sigh. Better luck next time. (And best believe I picked that thing apart searching for any part of it that was edible.)
So instead of calling for a pizza, I grabbed the next best thing out of the freezer, poured a glass of wine and called it a night.
That’s right. Onion rings. French fries’ classier cousin. And you see that? Oh yeah, paper plates. I almost put on a set of pearls, just to eat them.
And should the lovely folks at Alexia be reading this, please feel free to run with that slogan. I promise I’ll be fair with my price.
Oh and hey, you should probably go check out my guest post today at The Cookie Battle. It’s what a classy person would do.

I think Megan just had the same issue happen with her pizza… that sucks! Good for you for making a new backup- I’d be tempted to just walk down the block and get some carryout…

I like to wear diamonds when I heat up a bag of sweet potato tatertots and devour the whole thing with a side of Pinot. Totally classy. Okay, I don’t own any real diamonds, but who can really tell the difference between the real thing and a cubic zirconia?

I wasted so many years of my life hating on onion rings but I’ve been loving them recently! And that is klassy at its finest – was there classical music and candles in the background?

i would sell my soul for alexia (sweet potato or normal) waffle fries. i’d choose them over a new lexus. and most of tiffany’s.

Sorry that your recipe didn’t go as planned. I never liked onion rings growing up but now I’ve learned to like them.

Damn you, now I want onion rings.

I think a failed recipe is worth it if it means you get onion rings. I love onion rings.

Oh man, those onion rings look amazing. No shame, either. I had a board meeting last night and I knew there would be food there, but I was so hungry when I got home from work that I may or may not have made myself an appetizer of tater tots. It was the right choice.

How can pizza go oh so wrong?
And if it was a eclaire (cream puff), George would have been all over it!

In my current migraine-induced nausea, onion rings are now the only thing I can imagine eating. Wannnnt them.
I’m so proud of you for your run! All I mustered were some ab things, lunges and bridges while watching MED. Sigh. I did clean a lot though, that’s like running, right?

What were you trying to make? A calzone?

I wish I had some onion rings. I had a fro-yo for lunch though and that was pretty spectacular.
