No Sleep Til Monday

Happy Monday, friends.  And how were your weekends?

Oh, well that sounds lovely.

I had a nice little weekend myself, thank you for asking.

Unfortunately, both nights ended in me going to bed way, way WAY past my bedtime.  It will take me weeks to catch up on the sleep I so casually passed up this weekend, and I fear for those who come into contact with me until my sleep tank is replenished.

Friday night, after my friends and I had an impromptu 90′s rollerskating rink music dance party, I beat my all-time record playing the drums in Rock Band.  Mostly because I’m awesome at the drums, but also because I vowed to get 100% at least once.  Feast your eyes on this:

I’m thinking I should just buy a set of drums, since I’m clearly a natural.  I bet video game skills totally translate to real life talent.  And from that theory I can only conclude that my husband would be amazing at killing aliens, should we ever be under attack.

Unfortunately I hit 99% like 4 times in a row and just couldn’t hit 100%.  Stupid sensitive foot pedal.  And due to my commitment to excellence, my head didn’t hit the pillow til sometime around 4am.  Yes, that’s right 4. A. M.  Ugh.

Saturday I miraculously woke up around 9am.  After a few hours of packing and trying not to fall asleep face-first in my suitcase, I walked into my kitchen and found this spread on our countertop:

Surely this was some kind of mirage caused by exhaustion…

No my friends, it was very much real, and very much not for me.  I love that my husband and his friends decide to turn my house into the Capitol Grill when I’m going to be out of town.

I can’t complain though, as I had a seriously fantastic dinner Saturday night at Spasso Italian Grill, in Philadelphia with my lovely friend Christine and her husband Steve.  I ordered the mussels in a wine garlic sauce and they were phenomenal.  Everything was actually really delicious and the restaurant was delightfully authentic.  I would absolutely recommend checking it out if you’re looking for good Italian food in the Philadelphia area.  Sadly I took no pictures as I decided to just be a normal person that night and not my usual blogger self.   Also people were already staring since we looked like a weird threesome on some menage-a-date.  Once I even cheers’ed really loudly, “To our three year anniversary!”  Classic.

Then after traipsing around Old City Philly for a few hours, we made our way back to the hotel and fell asleep sometime around 2.  Tailgating at the game was sure to be a joy the next day…

About that Eagles game…

Well we ended up not really tailgating, because traffic was horrific and didn’t find anywhere to buy beer.  (Thankfully, some very nice gentleman donated a few brewskis to our cause.)  But, as you can see, we had really great seats and that makes everything better.

Well, we all know how this game ended.  (Basically me scowling for the rest of the night and getting dangerously close to coming to fisticuffs with a horrendous Giants fan who stood pretty much the entire game and blocked my view.)  Oh and our QB has a broken hand and we’re no longer “favorites”.  No big deal.  (Still scowling.)

However…

There was a Bradley Cooper sighting, and really just knowing something that beautiful is nearby eases the pain of any situation.

Mmmm.

In hopes of catching up on my recent late night adventures, I was in bed by 10:30 last night.   But for some reason just couldn’t relax.  Perhaps my nap on the car ride home wasn’t such a great idea.

Hopefully tonight I will finally catch up on some much-needed rest. And if Bradley Cooper should grace my dreams with his presence, well then so be it…

  1. I could use a few extra hours as well. Hopefully my coworkers won’t be too affected. But I can’t make any promises…

Football let me down this weekend. So I’ll just continue to cling to my baseball and cross my fingers that the Cards can continue their little streak to the wild card…

  2. Well, both the Tigers and the Lions won yesterday, so all was well in my sports world. Plus, I look forward to sleep on the weekends, so I was basically a huge bore. But with that said, if you and your husband ever need a creepy third wheel/faux sister wife to go out to dinner and a game with, I would totally like to submit my application.

Good luck with your recovery today!

  3. Haha, I do the same thing with games – I go and go and go until I win! (Or get close enough, heh). Those seats were awesome – I bet the game was a blast!

  4. UGH – same…5am bedtime all weekend = grouchy lyss all week

  5. I hear ya on the sleep thing. I feel like I never get enough sleep. So jealous that you were in the same arena as Bradley Cooper! Ahh..he is so dreamy :)

  6. Haha video game skills always translate perfectly into real life. I remember a few years ago my mom took her class bowling, and one of the boys said he was sure he would do well because he practiced on his Wii the night before. In case you’re wondering, he didn’t do so well. :)

  7. Bradley Cooper in an Eagles hat is a pretty beautiful sight. I was doubly upset about the game since I knew you were there. Ugh. They need to get the crap together NOW!

  8. I watched part of the game and looked for you. Wish I would have witnessed some Bradley Cooper though. Yum.
I need another million hours of sleep right now. Yaaawn.

  9. Well played. That’s pretty much exactly how I felt last weekend- I may have been up til 6:30 am Saturday morning. We both had disappointing football weekends- wahhh. I love football season, but it comes with a hefty dose of depression most years.

  10. Ha. If only video game skills were transferable. Wait, no. That would make my hubby a very scary man (a Black Ops enthusiast).

Sorry about the game outcome. At least Mr Cooper was there :)

  11. gosh i love Bradley Cooper – so pretty!

it looks like you had a great weekend!!!

  12. I slept a total of 11 hours while in FL visiting the family this weekend. Sleep is over rated ;)

  13. Mmmm Bradley Cooper..he is a hottie! That makes the game a WIN in itself!

  14. Whoa. Capitol Grille up in the house. I hope there were leftovers when you got home. It sounds like a fun trip overall. I’m sorry the Eagles lost. The Pats lost too :(

  15. That game sucked, it was like they were actively trying to lose. It was ugly.

  16. WHAT? You were in Philly and no heads up? Whore. Not like I want to meet you or anything….I’m finally getting over my fear of meeting bloggers, ha.

Actually I wouldn’t have been able to meet up anyways. But nextime…

I barely was able to watch that game. But being that close to BCoop? I’d have melted. Or gotten arrested for throwing myself on him. He is dream-life-scenario #1. (Pence being #2)
